Jefferson City-Missouri State Capital

"Old Goat" and I decided to take advantage of a beautiful day and explore our state capital - Jefferson City, which is about 40 miles from our place.  Here is a link to it's History

Yes, this is on the Capital grounds as well...

Veteran's Memorial.  We will go back in the spring when the fountains actually have water...

Officer Busch was shot and killed when he and his partner interrupted a burglary in progress at a home on Tuxedo Boulevard. A citizen had called police to report a suspicious man prowling in the area.

When the officers arrived at the scene they met the citizen and then began searching the area. Officer Busch and the citizen heard noise behind a nearby house and walked to the backyard. When they rounded the corner of the house they observed a man attempting to pry open a window. Before Officer Busch even spoke the man suddenly opened fire, striking him in the chin.

Despite being wounded, Officer Busch returned, fire emptying his revolver. The suspect also continued firing, striking Officer Busch in the chest, killing him. Officer Busch's partner immediately ran to the scene of the shooting and also returned fire at the suspect as he fled. The suspect's body was located approximately 50 yards away.

Officer Busch had served with the Webster Groves Police Department for 11 years. He was survived by his wife and six children.

Morning Walk

I can't believe how beautiful this week has been!  Cool mornings and warm sunny afternoons.  People are HAPPY!  My morning walk has certainly gotten to be scenic.  I am building my daily walks back up to 3 miles, this little bit of walking sure does give a person more energy..

The yard.

Love this view in the early morning sun

Here's where my walks begin.  Left turn..

Right turn.

Notice the fence is going almost straight down on the left.

Looks like somebody tried to miss the curve last night.

Guess who is back for more acorns!
This picture was taken though one of our picture windows that has a sun filtering film on it... really messes with the camera..

Find the Deer!

It has finally stopped raining here and turned into a beautiful perfect fall day.  Went for a nice long walk around the wooded area of the ranch.  I lost count of the deer I moved.  I thought I might have gotten a picture of one of the does.  I almost deleted the pictures...then I found her.. Can you?

And here is the reason there are so many deer in that spot!

Okay for those who didn't find the deer.

Rainy Fall Sunday Morning

I came home from the big city this morning.  I decided to take a 5 mile "short cut" on the way home.  A person may save a few miles, but loose about 20 minutes of travel time due to the roads.  Gives new meaning to cow path road, but beautiful views.
