February Sunrise

A week or so ago we had one of the most amazing sunrises, one that you just had to stand and watch it form.  Here is a couple of the pictures I took...

Surprise!!

Today is the 17th. On the 14th the gravel roads were still mostly covered, driveway, a mess...............
Let the goats back out in the pasture on the 15th, first day they could find the ground........
The snow is gone and it has been 70+ degrees for two days now.  I took a short walk and look what I found!!  Amazing!!  We're not going to talk about the 50 mph wind gusts from the south which makes driving a little tricky..

We are Melting!!

This morning was absolutely beautiful!!  Bright clear skies.  The temperatures are in the 50's this afternoon.  The melting snow is forming little rivers everywhere.  Now for the mud...but I'm not going to complain.  Maybe close to 70 Thursday afternoon.  This sure is a far cry from Thursday morning when my car thermometer went down to -19 in several of the low valleys and creek bottoms I drive through.

The roads are slushy and muddy now!!  My Hummer has never been this dirty for this long before.
With all the slush and mud it's likely to stay this way for a while......................

You gotta love those goats.

Pulled in the driveway tonight to this wonderful funny picture.  Goats can have fun in any kind of weather,  King of the Hill is still the favorite game.

We're really dug out now!

After a week of calling snow removal folks and sliding all over the place,  we are now officially dug out.  And the other news is, we have another storm on the way for Tuesday (maybe) 6".

Cold Night

It was -10 this morning, pretty crazy.  It got up to the mid 20's today and sunshine.  Not a lot of melting going on.  We are watching the Pyrs checking out their pasture in chest deep snow, panting and loving every minute of it.  I'm going to try and make it to work tomorrow...going to be a slow 50 miles, roads are still snow covered.

We got out (kind of)

This is a view from the county (gravel) road, our house is back down around the corner. As you can see the Hummer was dragging in the snow. When we got to the hard road we found it so bad that we decided we didn't want to go anywhere any way.......................................................................................................

First Path

Depending on who you listen to we have 14" to 18" of snow here.  I don't think the actual amount matters after the first 8" or so... it's a lot!!!  Too Much...  I've got my first path cut going to the barn area.  At least the snow is light and we have a bright blue sky and the winds have died down some.  It is so quiet outside right now.  You can't hear plows or tractors going yet.  It's about 14 degrees this morning so I guess its going to take a while to get things moving.

Two foot by 6 foot standard stock tank buried.
Doesn't look like much until you put the shovel in your hand.

Blizzard 2011

The first picture was taken just at daylight this morning.  The second picture was taken about 10: a.m.  It's hard to measure the actual snow amounts, the wind is blowing so bad.  My best guess is about 12" as of 5 p.m. and it's still snowing.  They are saying maybe another 1" or 2" before it stops.
